for everyone
Some medications or drugs hold the tendency to make a person dependent or form a habit of abuse that increases over an extensive duration of time. These are medications that are approved for use but may also cause a person to be bound physically or psychologically to it. Addictive formulations, which had often been narcotics, tranquilizers and sedatives, now include cough medicines. That is why some people who are taking antidepressants are also wondering if the medications that they are taking may also create dependency. Scientists are also trying to develop psychedelic mushrooms as new formulations of antidepressants.

Most researchers believe that more studies should be undertaken for knowing how antidepressants work. Some individuals who had bouts of melancholia and anger may also present signs of aggression and irritability. They usually have a detached personality and want to be alone most of the time. Antidepressants were designed to alleviate these symptoms so that a person can get his or her life back after feeling lost. Most people who are taking antidepressants have experienced difficulty getting off them when they needed to quit, though. Those who quit abruptly had been left with experiencing withdrawal symptoms when the drug was taken out of their system.

Zoloft Side Effects

The reason why most people go through withdrawal when they quit using antidepressants has boggled the mind of most psychiatrists. Drugs that were meant to treat low moods were not seen to be addicting especially during the clinical trials, although some people seemingly developed tolerance for them. Doses are regulated by doctors toward obtaining the desired effects without any adverse reactions. Doctors encouraged their patients to taper down the dose of their medications slowly, so as to prevent any withdrawal symptoms. A good support group may help in getting the person through the tough times after quitting their medications.

The withdrawal symptoms do not relate only with antidepressants but also to the side effects that were reported by most patients. Even the recent formulations, like the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), have been observed to cause severe side effects. A good number of people have been using antidepressants for as long as two years and maybe more, mental health statistics say. Using these medications for a long time also contributes to the worsening of withdrawal symptoms. Alarming results from statistics have shown that a woman using Zoloft during pregnancy may have a baby with Zoloft birth defects.
